Augusta Health is an independent, nonprofit community hospital with a mission to promote the health and well-being of our community through access to excellent care. In 2011, Augusta Health is the only hospital in Virginia to be recognized as a 100 Top Hospital by Thomson Reuters, receive both the Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence and Patient Safety Awards from HealthGrades, and be named a finalist for the Foster G. McGaw Prize from the American Hospital Association for community service.
The August Health Cancer Center is a full Program Development Affiliate within the Duke Oncology Network. The Duke Cancer Institute received it designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1973 by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The Duke Oncology Network is a patient-centered team of Duke physicians, researchers, educators and staff devoted to cancer care. Their goal is to bring national standards of cancer care and research into local communities. Augusta Health Cancer Center is fully accredited as “The Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program” by the ACoS and is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
